Next Bugatti Hypercar to Debut in June With Hybrid V16

The next chapter in the history of Bugatti will be dramatically different from the previous ones, which ended with the limited-edition W16 Mistral.

Now, eight years to the day since the Chiron was revealed, the French automaker is announcing a new generation that will debut in June.

Ever since Croatian EV maker Rimac took a majority stake in Bugatti three years ago, we’ve known that electrification will be part of the package. Well, it’s going to be a hybrid V16, folks. The following teaser even offers a preview of what it will sound like:

“Incomparable in every detail, it is a pure embodiment of Bugatti’s DNA, created not just for the present, or even the future – but “Pour l’éternité,” Bugatti claims on its website.

We all remember that Cadillac sold V16-powered cars back in the 1930s. BMW also experimented with this type of engine during the 1990s. Of course, it won’t be the same thing now. “If comparable, it is no longer Bugatti,” the automaker insists.

No specs or additional details were provided, though it’s pretty safe to assume the new electrified hypercar will top the 1,577 horsepower Bugatti used to deliver up until now. Everything will become clear in June, so stay tuned.
