2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5 to Get Larger Battery and Rear Wiper
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 is one of the most sought-after electric crossovers on the market right now, and it’s about to get even hotter thanks to a mid-cycle update for the 2025 model year.
We’ve already told you about the addition of the IONIQ 5 N, a high-performance model with up to 641 horsepower—The Car Guide’s Gabriel Gélinas actually took it for a spin last fall in South Korea and came away mightily impressed. Its 84kWh battery will replace the 77.4kWh pack in other long-range IONIQ 5 models, but Hyundai has yet to say how many more kilometres drivers can expect to travel (maximum range is currently rated at 488 km in RWD configuration).

Another pleasant addition is the rear window wiper. The Korean automaker has finally realized that drivers must deal with rain, snow and other elements, no longer sacrificing visibility for the sake of better aerodynamics and sleeker looks.
Speaking of which, new aerodynamically designed wheels are included on the 2025 IONIQ 5, which also sports revised front and rear bumpers (resulting in 20 mm of extra body length) and a 50 mm longer rear spoiler. An N Line model with unique 20-inch alloys and more aggressive styling (not as much as the IONIQ 5 N) will join the lineup, too. Availability in Canada has yet to be confirmed.
The chassis has been revised including a more rigid cowl crossbar that reduces vibration in the steering column along with double the number of reinforcements at the rear end. Extra noise insulation has been added around the rear motor, while the system that detects the driver’s hands on the steering wheel is updated.
The steering wheel, by the way, gets LED illuminated pixels. Elsewhere, the redesigned HVAC interface promises to be more user-friendly, while new shortcut buttons on the console allow convenient access to frequently used functions such as seat and steering wheel heating plus parking assistance.
