GMC to Debut Refreshed 2025 Yukon, All-New Terrain Later This Year

Following the completely redesigned 2024 Acadia, all eyes will be on the GMC Yukon and Terrain for 2025. Debuts are planned for later this year, and the company has now partly revealed their revised front ends to keep us waiting and guessing.

Let’s start with the full-size Yukon, which is set to receive a mid-cycle update similar to the 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban. A redesigned grille and headlights will be part of the package along with new wheel designs (up to 24 inches) and new body colours.

We also expect a revised suspension, more powerful Duramax diesel engine (305 hp, 495 lb-ft), updated cabin with additional tech (including surveillance cameras around and inside the vehicle), and possibly new features designed to make towing even easier.

The off-road-focused AT4 and luxurious Denali models will inevitably be back, the latter representing more than half of total GMC Yukon sales. Production of the refreshed 2025 Yukon should begin toward the end of 2024 or early next year.

Next-Generation Terrain

Similar to the Chevrolet Equinox, the GMC Terrain will debut a new generation for 2025, so look for more significant changes than what we’ve just talked about with the Yukon. It will likely be larger, boxier and more rugged-looking than the outgoing Terrain.

The turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine will remain under the hood, still producing 175 horsepower. The nine-speed automatic transmission could be dropped, however. In the new Equinox, FWD models get a continously variable transmission and AWD models use an eight-speed autobox.

And remember the plug-in hybrids that GM has promised to bring back sooner rather than later? The Terrain could be one of the candidates, though maybe not for 2025.

Inside, the transformation will be thorough and spectacular. Unlike the Equinox, the Terrain is expected to combine an 11-inch digital instrument cluster with a 15-inch vertical touchscreen as found in the new Acadia (pictured below), based on recent spy shots that have surfaced online. Said touchscreen will be fully configurable and equipped with Google Built-in.

Details about production and on-sale date for the 2025 GMC Terrain will be shared upon its introduction later in 2024. Keep following The Car Guide so you won’t miss a thing.
