Refreshed 2025 Honda Civic Adds Powerful, Efficient Civic Hybrid

The popular Honda Civic gets a series of updates for the 2025 model year, none bigger than the return of the Civic Hybrid, giving customers a fourth electrified option after the Accord Hybrid, CR-V Hybrid and all-electric Prologue.

Production of the new sedan will begin next month in Alliston, Ontario, with the first units landing in dealerships across Canada in July. The Civic Hatchback Hybrid, meanwhile, will be built in Greensburg, Indiana and available later in the summer.

"Hybrid-electric sales continue to climb in Canada and the new fun-to-drive Civic Hybrid will be a popular choice with its persuasive combination of power, handling and fuel efficiency," said Emile Korkor, Assistant Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

The automaker ultimately expects the Civic Hybrid to account for more than 40 percent of total Civic sales in North America including over 60 percent in Canada.

Powerful and Efficient

The 2025 Honda Civic will be available in four trim levels, starting with LX (sedan only) and Sport, and topped by the Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid. The gas-electric models have an estimated fuel consumption rating of 4.8 L/100 km and 4.9 L/100 km, respectively, which represents an improvement of just over 2 L/100 km from the conventional Civic Sedan powered by the 2.0-litre engine.

Of course, a continuously variable transmission continues to be part of the mix, but drivers will have more power and torque to play with thanks to the two electric motors. We’re talking about 200 horsepower (matching the sporty Civic Si and its turbocharged 1.5-litre engine) along with 232 lb-ft of torque (an increase of 40 lb-ft over the Civic Si). Selector paddles on the steering wheel allow four levels of regenerative-braking deceleration.

Honda engineers have also uniquely tuned the Civic Hybrid’s springs and dampers. Specially designed tires are included, too. This will be the quietest Civic ever thanks to a robust noise reduction package that includes Active Noise Control on all hybrids and wheel resonators on Sport Touring. The top-line model, by the way, features a new Individual mode that enables a more tailored driving experience.

Refreshed Styling and Google Built-in

The exterior of every 2025 Honda Civic is enhanced with a new, more aggressive front fascia and grille, as well as new darker taillights. The hybrid-powered trims get a distinct body-coloured headlight garnish and front lower spoiler, not to mention a new machine-finished wheel design on Sport Touring. There are three new colours to choose from including Solar Silver Metallic, Urban Grey Pearl and Blue Lagoon Pearl.

Inside, the Civic Sport Hybrid features a new contrasting stripe design on the seats and comes standard with a moonroof, heated front seats, heated leather steering wheel and dual-zone climate controls.

The Sport Touring Hybrid adds leather seating, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and wireless smartphone charger. It’s the only one that gets to benefit from the Civic's first integration of Google built-in. This includes the Google Assistant, navigation with Google Maps and more apps via Google Play. One last thing: all Civic models now come standard with front USB-C ports.
