Volkswagen ID.7 Won’t Be Sold in North America After All
The Volkswagen ID.7 electric sedan hasn’t just been postponed, it turns out. The Car Guide has learned straight from the automaker’s Canadian head of communications that plans for the car in North America have been cancelled.
Dealers were informed through an email late last week.

Ironically, Volkswagen first showed the ID.7 at CES 2023 in Las Vegas, albeit under camouflage. The official debut took place in April of that year, and we were told back then that sales in Canada would begin in the summer of 2024.
Just a couple of months before launching, the ID.7 was pushed back indefinitely in both Canada and the U.S. as global demand for EVs was starting to wane.
“Volkswagen is committed to making market-driven choices while listening to our customers,” the company wrote in a brief statement at the time. “As market dynamics continue to change, Volkswagen is delaying the introduction of the ID.7 sedan in the U.S. and Canada.”
With the Passat-sized ID.7 staying in Europe, shoppers on this side of the Atlantic will have to settle for the ID.4 crossover or ID. Buzz minivan if they want to enjoy electric mobility from Volkswagen.
