Chevrolet Silverado EV ZR2 Debuts as Off-Road Race Truck

Chevrolet unveiled the Silverado EV ZR2 off-road race truck concept at the legendary Mint 400 off-road race near Las Vegas just a few days ago.

Through a collaboration with Chad Hall Racing Team, the company used the event to analyze the race truck’s performance, durability and capability. The learnings will be applied to production vehicles, performance parts and accessories from Chevrolet.

Following the gas-powered Silverado 1500 ZR2 and Silverado HD ZR2, the electric variant features roughly 98 percent GM production parts. Highlights include underbody skid protection, locking differentials (mechanical front differential and electronic rear differential) and a lifted front and rear suspension with specific off-road tuning.

The latter relies on prototype Multimatic Adaptive Spool Valve continuously adaptive dampers allowing for more than 13 inches of front and rear wheel travel. Speaking of which, the truck rides on 18-inch wheels with 37-inch BFGoodrich KM3 Mud-Terrain tires.

As for motivation, the concept is based on a Silverado EV WT Max Range, whose 205kWh battery provides an amazing range of 792 km. The tri-motor electric propulsion system creates 1,100 horsepower and 11,500 lb-ft of torque, Chevy says.

Production of the Silverado EV ZR2 remains unconfirmed at this point. What we can tell you is that a Silverado EV Trail Boss will launch this summer as a 2026 model. Look for a factory-installed lift, 18-inch wheels, 35-inch all-terrain tires and red tow hooks, not to mention a new Terrain Mode for increased maneuverability in tight spaces. More information will be released soon and we’ll make sure to keep you posted.
