Here’s Your First Look at the New 2027 Chevrolet Bolt
Sold from 2017 to 2023, the Chevrolet Bolt EV helped tens of thousands of consumers make the transition to long-range electric vehicles without paying a high price. Unfortunately, battery problems and a massive recall tarnished its reputation and hastened its retirement.
But, as you probably know, General Motors has confirmed a new generation is on the way, driven by popular demand. Today, the automaker gives us our first official glimpse along with a few details.

First of all, even though the big reveal is scheduled for later in 2025, this Bolt 2.0 will arrive as a 2027 model, not a 2026, with sales starting next year. The name will no longer be followed by the letters "EV" and the car will be, according to GM, "better than ever."
The picture up top and the one just above show the changes to the headlights and taillights. The former are once again separated from the daytime running lights but connected by a black strip and flanked by a lower grille that gives an aggressive look, while the latter adopt a completely new style with a three-dimensional appearance.
The charging port is still located on the car's left front fender, but swaps the CCS standard for NACS, allowing direct access to Tesla’s Superchargers—no adapter required. This also suggests the 2027 Bolt's fast-charging capability will be significantly increased, addressing a major shortcoming of the original.

No technical information was provided by GM in today’s announcement, but it’s been previously reported that the new generation will use more advanced, higher-capacity batteries similar to those in other GM EVs. Incidentally, the Fairfax, Kansas assembly plant is scheduled to begin Bolt production in late 2025 with deliveries starting in 2026, but no further details are available at this time.
