It's that time of the year again. U.S. magazine Wards Auto has just announced its list of the 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems for 2023. Because it’s a trusted and reputable source in the auto industry, we wanted to share the results with you once again.
This year, the panel evaluated 32 vehicles including 13 ICEs, 10 BEVs and nine hybrids. The 2022 winners were all eligible to return, by the way. Scoring is based on horsepower, torque, NVH management, observed efficiency and new technology onboard. A price cap for nominees that had been in place since 1995 was removed in 2021, but value remains part of the criteria.
Check out the photo gallery above to see the 10 best engines and propulsion systems for 2023 according to Wards Auto, in alphabetical order. This is a vastly different bunch from last year, and once again at least one of them is a questionable choice. Don’t hesitate to click on the links for more details or a full review.
