Entirely updated this year, the BMW X1 uses the good thing in the form of the platform of the small package known as the new MINI Clubman. The 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder produces 228 horsepower and the transmission is an 8-speed automatic. Like the Clubman, the all-wheel drive favours the front wheels. Although it's larger than the first X1, it remains surprisingly sporty, proving that BMW’s DNA did not get lost in the shuffle.
