Based on a Mazda3 platform, the Mazda5 is a true minivan whose practical interior is accessible through wide sliding doors. The 2nd and 3rd rows of seats can be folded away to increase cargo room. More compact than its bigger rivals, the Mazda5 is the only minivan available with a six-speed manual transmission or an optional 5-speed automatic with manual mode. A 157 hp 2.5 litre four-cylinder engine powers both the GS and GT trims.
