The G-Class origins from 1979’s Geländewagen. It has benefited from many improvements over the years, and 2013 brings fresh new ones, mostly visible in the new interior design. This genuine SUV is available as the G550 (382 hp 5.5 litre V8) or the G63 AMG (536 hp twin-turbo 5.5 litre V8). The permanent four-wheel drive hardware and 7-speed automatic transmission are designed for serious off-road use, as are the ladder-type frame and the suspension’s rigid axles, found at both ends.
