The GR 86 (formerly known as 86) is all new for 2022, but it continues to share its platform and powertrain with the Subaru BRZ. While the second generation retains a four-cylinder boxer engine, displacement is increased from 2.0 litres to 2.4 litres. As a result, the GR 86 now generates 228 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels only. Six-speed manual and automatic transmissions are available.
