Tesla S Cited for Unintended Acceleration

Published on October 2, 2013 in News by Gilles Olivier

So far, everything has gone pretty well for the powerful Californian manufacturer of electric cars and their famous Tesla Model S.

But recently a complaint was submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for unexpected acceleration.

The person stated that his wife was behind the wheel in their driveway when suddenly she was propelled into a wall.

Tesla immediately dispatched an engineer who found that power was increased from 18% to 100% in a fraction of a second.

To learn more about what actually happened, the NHTSA will have to make a more thorough investigation of the incident which fortunately did not cause any injuries.

For the moment, it is only a complaint that has been filed, and there is every reason to believe it will remain so, unless other similar incidents are uncovered.
