Tesla Model S is Norway's Best-Selling Car

Published on October 10, 2013 in News by Danny Geraghty

The all-electric Tesla Model S has edged out the popular Volkswagen Golf as the top-selling car in Norway for the month of September.

The vehicle is in such high demand, people are willing to pay more for a used car rather than wait for delivery of a new one.

In Norway the government offers substantial incentives for electric car owners such as free parking, the right to use express lanes on highways and exemptions from tolls. There are also charging stations in abundance.

A new Model S sells for the equivalent of approximately $114,000-$121,000 Canadian dollars but on the used market, sellers can fetch upwards of a $20,000 premium.

Tesla sold 616 of the 12,168 new cars sold in Norway last month.
