McLaren P1 GTR: The Ultimate Track Day Toy

This weekend, McLaren unveiled their latest billionaire's track day toy, the P1 GTR.

Targeting the minority of people who look at a regular P1 and think, ''Yeah, this is not hardcore enough," the P1 GTR is not road-legal. It is equipped with various aerodynamic bits, like a carbon fibre front splitter, larger side skirts, new air intakes, a completely redesigned rear and a fixed wing.

The P1's original adjustable suspension has been swapped for a fixed one, more adapted for track abuse. The car also receives inboard hydraulic jacks for quick tire changes, a dynamic drag reduction system (DRS) just like in Formula 1 and a straight-piped exhaust made of titanium and inconel. Considering that the road-going P1 is loud, this one must sound absolutely savage!

And just to make sure the car can get out of its own way, the engineers added another 84 horsepower, bringing the total to 1000.

The P1 GTR will only be available to those of you who already own a P1, it will be built next year and will cost around $3.6 million.
