The Next McLaren

After creating the P1 (a supercar capable of rivalling the world’s best) McLaren is currently building a car that will slot under the 650S and should become the brand’s least expensive offering.

We have heard little of the car at this point, but we knew it under the P13 name. Now however, it seems that the Woking firm has found a more fitting name for the car that will be aimed straight at the Porsche 911 and the Mercedes-AMG GT: according to a recent announcement, we now know that the car will be named the Sports Series.

The car will feature a carbon fibre tub and a V8 engine. Unless McLaren has something entirely new in mind, we can expect it to use a detuned version of the twin-turbo already used in the P1 and 650S. It should produce around 450 or 500 horsepower.

The McLaren Sports Series should be unveiled sometime in the middle of next year.
