BMW 7 Series Plug-In Hybrid On The Way
Soon joining the recently launched sixth-generation BMW 750i and 750Li, which arrive at dealers mid-October, will be an all-new 7 Series plug-in hybrid.
Arriving early in 2016, the 740e xDrive will combine a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an electric motor that is integrated into the eight-speed automatic transmission. Early claims put fuel consumption at 2.1L/100 km, with an electric-only range of up to 37 km.

The lithium-ion battery powering the electric motor is located out of harm’s way under the rear seat. It can be recharged through a household power outlet, a BMW iWallbox, or a charging station.
Battery charge control management will be linked to the navigation system to provide the optimum balance of electric-only operation and battery consumption, based on the driving route to the selected destination.
Specifications and pricing will be released closer to the launch date.
