Only 200 Ford GTs For 2017

It stands to reason that the 2017 Ford GT will be an exceptional product. Just like today’s supercars, the car will feature the magic trifecta of extreme performance, ridiculously high price and low production numbers.

According to an anonymous source, Ford will only build 200 of its 2017 GT. Of that number, 100 of them will be sold in the United States, while the rest will be sold around the world (the UK will receive 20, while some countries where Ford has a strong presence may get only 10).

The same source points out that the asking price will be somewhat steep. While the last generation of the GT cost about $150,000 USD when new, the 2017 could be around $400,000 USD!

As we previously learned, potential buyers will have to apply to get a GT. Those who have previously bought a last-gen GT (or who are known to collect Fords) will have the opportunity to place an order before the rest of the public. This is an attempt to discourage people who may want to buy a car to resell right away at a big markup.

If your contact list –or your checkbook– isn’t deep enough to get one of the early GTs, there are still two ways you can see and hear one: it will be entered in GT-Pro races all over the globe, like the 24 Hours Of Daytona next January, or you can get your hands on an Xbox One and play Forza Motorsport, since the Ford GT is the star of the game!
