The Q Inspiration Concept is the First Infiniti Designed by Karim Habib
The 2018 Detroit Auto Show sure is looking up to being more interesting than last year. Remember, at the 2017 edition of one of the industry’s most important auto shows, we didn’t get much in terms of exciting unveilings. A new Toyota Camry was pretty much all we got. This year, however, the show should be quite compelling with interesting new releases such as this one: the Infiniti Q Inspiration.
A Q70 Replacement?
We haven’t seen a large flagship Infiniti sedan for some time now. Sure, the Japanese premium carmaker does currently sells the Q70, but that car competes mostly against the BMW 5 Series. It lacks the refinement and luxury required to make it a true BMW 7 Series, Mercedes-Benz S-Class or Lexus LS rival. You’d need to dig all the way back to the Q45, produced from 1989 to 2006, to spot a truly luxurious Infiniti cruiser.

The Q Inspiration on the other hand is here to introduce consumers to a new era of luxury and design, which should, or so we hope, allow the carmaker to finally become a true luxury brand. However, if it was to be produced, would it be a replacement to the Q70L, or a larger sedan?
What we do know is that the Q Inspiration will be the first vehicle to be designed under Montreal designer Karim Habib’s artistic supervision. Habib migrated to Infiniti design this summer after a successful run as head of design at BMW. For now, we don’t know much about this new Infiniti sedan, but from the vague images we were provided, we notice a nice, coupe-like appearance, similar to an Audi A7. We should be thankful that sedans are losing the sales war to SUVs, because they have never looked so good to attract buyers. And this concept is no different.
The Infiniti Q Inspiration will be unveiled in Detroit in two weeks, where we’ll be able to give you more information on the car as we get it.
