Refreshed 2019 Mazda CX-3 Now on Sale; Pricing Announced
In order to keep up with ever-growing and more modern competition, the popular Mazda CX-3 gets a number of improvements for the 2019 model year, as initially revealed during its launch at the New York International Auto Show in late March. It goes on sale this month across Canada and we now know every detail about its prices and equipment.
But first, let us remind you that the 2019 CX-3 boasts improved materials and sound insulation, greater storage space in the centre console resulting from a new electronic parking brake, plus fully redesigned front seats that provide extra comfort. Outside, a new front grille design, new taillights and new wheels highlight the changes.
What’s interesting under the sheet metal is not the gain of two horsepower for a total of 148, but rather the increased refinement and efficiency of the engine, not to mention the recalibrated steering and chassis which help deliver a smoother, more pleasant driving experience. We’ll be the judge of that in a future review.
Same three models
Starting at $20,795 (a bump of $800 from the outgoing edition), the entry-level 2019 Mazda CX-3 GX comes standard with a new direct Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, G-Vectoring Control, push-button start, two USB ports, a rear-view camera and Bluetooth hands-free calling and audio pairing. For $1,300, the six-speed manual transmission can be replaced by an automatic. Add another $2,000 for Mazda’s i-ACTIV all-wheel drive system.
Next, the 2019 Mazda CX-3 GS carries a base MSRP of $23,095. This will get you 16-inch alloy wheels, heated exterior mirrors, automatic on/off headlights, rain-sensing wipers, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control and new piano black pillar accents. What’s more, the black premium-grade cloth seating surfaces come with three-level heating adjustment for the front seats.
Here, in addition to the AWD option, buyers can specify two packages. The Luxury Package ($1,500) adds leatherette-trimmed upholstery with cloth accents, a power glass moonroof, upgraded stitching detail on the armrests, front and rear door inserts, soft-touch side console panel and soft-touch dash panel decoration, along with satin chrome vent bezels and inner door handles. Meanwhile, the i-ACTIVSENSE Package ($1,600) increases safety with Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Smart Brake Support, Pedestrian Detection (forward sensing), Distance Recognition Support, Forward Obstruction Warning, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Control, LED headlights, Adaptive Front Lighting and a colour head-up display unit.
Finally, the 2019 Mazda CX-3 GT starts at $30,795. This top-line model stands out thanks to standard AWD, black or white full-leather seating surfaces with high-gloss, pleated piping, chrome accents on the front bumper and side sills as well as the new design of the upgraded 18-inch alloy wheels. With regard to technology, it features a Traffic Sign Recognition System, Bose premium sound system with 7 speakers, SiriusXM satellite radio and Mazda navigation, among others.
By the way, the 2019 Mazda CX-3 can be had in seven different body colours, with Mazda’s signature Soul Red Crystal Metallic costing an extra $450.
