A Buick Regal Avenir is Expected for 2019
The Buick Regal Sportback was one of the sedans that impressed us the most this year thanks to its SUV-grade cargo hold, European road manners and compelling drivetrains. Our favourite is the Regal GS sport sedan, a car with serious performance credentials at an affordable price.
More Luxury
While the Regal is no doubt a great premium value proposition, it still lacks the luxury aura it needs to be taken seriously by consumers cross-shopping European brands. For 2019, Buick will attempt to fix this with the introduction of the Regal Avenir, a trim level designed specifically to enhance the car’s level of luxury and comfort.
Buick already offers this package on the LaCrosse Avenir and Enclave Avenir, the latter being very popular with consumers, representing more than 30% of Enclave sales in Canada. It’s only normal then for Buick to attempt the same strategy with the Regal.
As we’re writing this, no pricing has been announced for the package which will include, among other things, a fancy new chrome grille, model-specific 19-inch pearled nickel wheels, an upscale interior, more comfortable leather seats and an updated infotainment system.
If we were to base ourselves on current Avenir models, we expect the package will cost an extra $2,000 for a standard Regal Sportback, which kicks off at $32,000 before freight and destination.
