All-new 2020 Mazda CX-30 Lands in North America
Following its global debut in Geneva back in March, the all-new 2020 Mazda CX-30 made its first appearance on North American soil yesterday at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show.
Earlier this year, rumour had it that the CX-30 would replace the aging CX-3 in the Mazda lineup. However, we’ve just received confirmation that the latter will stick around.

Mazda has set four different goals with this new crossover: offer an attractive silhouette, create a spacious interior, make all occupants feel comfortable (not just the driver) and maintain the pleasant driving dynamics the brand is known for.
Between the CX-3 and CX-5
Whatever the name represents, the fact is the 2020 Mazda CX-30 will slot between the CX-3 and CX-5 as Mazda’s fourth crossover.
It stands 4,395 mm long on a 2,652-mm wheelbase and its width is 2,040 mm. There is room for five people inside, though cargo capacity has not been disclosed yet.
Base GX models will use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 155 horsepower and 150 pound-feet of torque. GS and GT models will get a 2.5-litre mill rated at 186 horsepower and 186 pound-feet. For some reason, only the GT features cylinder deactivation technology to improve fuel economy.
One Gearbox, Two Drivetrains
While a manual transmission has been announced for select markets such as Europe, Canadian-spec CX-30s will all rely on a six-speed automatic. Like several other Mazda vehicles, G-Vectoring Control Plus technology is part of the mix, too.
GX and GS models will be available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. As the top dog, the GT only comes with the latter.
As for efficiency, the numbers range from 8.9-9.9 L/100 km in the city and from 7.1-7.7 L/100 km on the highway, depending on the engine and drivetrain.
No Touchscreen
As seen in the new Mazda3, the company is going against the current by eliminating touchscreens. Rather, the infotainment display at the top of the dashboard is controlled via a big rotary knob near the shifter. The system is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The 2020 Mazda CX-30 will go on sale in January starting at $23,950. An extra $2,000 will get you AWD. The mid-level GS retails from $26,650, while the GT is priced at $33,850.
