Here’s When the GMC Hummer EV Will be Revealed at Last
Can’t wait to get your first look at the all-new 2022 GMC Hummer EV, the modern, fully electric version of the infamous American gas-guzzler? General Motors today announced when the reveal will take place.
The original date was May 20, but the COVID-19 pandemic changed the automaker’s plans. Now, we’ve just found out the vehicle will debut this fall, though the exact date remains to be specified (UPDATE: it will be October 20). Reservations will begin at the same time.

That’s roughly a year before production is supposed to start at GM’s Detroit/Hamtramck assembly plant in Michigan, which is being retooled to build EVs exclusively.
However, customers will need to be even more patient to take delivery of their GMC Hummer EV. You see, it won’t arrive in Canada until the fall of 2022.
All the juicy details will be disclosed in just a few months, but for now, let’s do a quick recap. The new battery-powered Hummer will deliver up to 1,000 horsepower, an insane 11,500 pound-feet of torque and 0-100 km/h acceleration in about three seconds. There will be an Adrenaline mode for performance and a Crab mode for low-speed manoeuvres off the road.
Once again, Hummer customers will get to choose between an SUV and a pickup. A cool new feature, however, will be the removable roof panels and front T-bar, creating a unique open-air experience—similar to the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator as well as the all-new Ford Bronco.
Also, look for massive all-terrain tires, several tow hooks and GMC’s versatile MultiPro tailgate (currently found on the Sierra). As for range, it could be as long as 645 kilometres with the new Ultium battery.
