2022 Ford Super Duty Brings More Style, Tech to Class-leading Trucks
While the Ford F-150 has been completely redesigned for 2021, the automaker’s Super Duty trucks merely get a few updates for 2022, essentially to offer more style and technology than ever.
It all starts with a new 12-inch centre touchscreen with SYNC 4 standard on Lariat and above models. Occupants can easily multitask functions by splitting the screen to see navigation, music, truck features and the new digital owner’s manual. Physical controls remain below the screen for quick access to the commonly used functions.

SYNC 4 can wirelessly connect smartphones for seamless integration of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, as well as SYNC AppLink apps. The system also understands conversational natural voice commands, which minimizes frustration while driving.
By the way, SYNC voice control and a 4.2-inch centre screen remain standard on base XL trucks, while SYNC 3 and an 8-inch centre touchscreen are standard on XLT models.
Extra Style
For 2022, the Ford Super Duty offers a new Lariat Sport Appearance Package that includes body-color bumpers, exterior mirrors and grille, as well as a chrome exhaust tip and black platform running boards.
The Black Appearance Package, now available for XLT models from fall 2021, includes 20-inch premium wheels and running boards in Ebony Black finish, body-coloured bumpers and grille bars, plus blacked-out Blue Ovals front and rear.
If you were hoping for the sleeper seats, folding centre console, multi-function tailgate or even the on-board generator available on the new F-150, you will have to wait. However, the Tremor Off-Road Package is back for those who need to tackle more difficult terrain.
Same Class-leading Capabilities
The current generation of Ford Super Duty trucks dates back to 2017, with key upgrades made for 2020. They will continue to stand above all competitors for 2022, unless Ram or GM strikes back at a later date, of course.
The available 7.3-litre V8 boasts the most gas horsepower (430 hp) and torque (475 lb.-ft.) in its class, while the available 6.7-litre Power Stroke diesel V8 delivers 1,050 lb.-ft. of torque, also best-in-class, allowing gooseneck towing of up to 37,000 pounds, fifth-wheel towing of up to 32,500 pounds and conventional towing of up to 24,200 pounds.
Production of 2022 Ford Super Duty trucks has already started in Kentucky and Ohio. Canadian pricing has yet to be announced, though.
