Lincoln’s First EV to Debut in 2022, Three More to Come After
Lincoln is lagging behind many other luxury car companies when it comes to electrification, but the tide is about to turn. Ford’s premium brand will debut its first global fully electric vehicle next year as it celebrates its 100th anniversary.
“As we accelerate Lincoln’s transformation in North America and China, there is no better time to propel the Lincoln brand forward with electrification,” said Joy Falotico, president of Lincoln.

Similar to the Ford Mustang Mach-E, the EV architecture used by Lincoln will offer customers the choice between RWD and AWD. Four separate models will be built on this new platform.
By mid-decade, Lincoln expects half of its global volume will be zero-emission vehicles and plans to electrify its portfolio of vehicles by 2030.
At the moment, Lincoln has plug-in hybrid variants of the Aviator and Corsair. The latter has yet to reach dealerships, mind you.
The company also plans to improve connectivity further by using the Lincoln Way app to deliver an enhanced suite of connected services. New features and capability updates for SYNC 4-enabled vehicles will be rolled out through the Lincoln Enhance platform via over-the-air software updates.
No Zephyr in North America
Earlier this spring, Lincoln showed a new sedan concept called Zephyr at Auto Shanghai 2021, reviving hopes that the brand could bring back traditional passenger cars to North America. However, we’ve been told that this model will be sold exclusively in China, where sedans are still popular.
All is not lost as some design elements of that Zephyr will eventually make their way across the Pacific. Kemal Curic, Lincoln’s global head of design, said that the thin light bar stretching across the face of the car will become the new visual signature for the brand.
