Canadian Fan’s “Fast and Furious” Nissan Maxima Replica is Spot-on
With F9 hitting theatres last Friday, avid Fast and Furious fan Dominic Dubreuil officially unveiled his replica of Vince’s Nissan Maxima from the first movie.
“Dom Dub,” as he’s known on social media, polled his YouTube and Instagram followers in August 2019 and that model was chosen to join his other replicas—Brian’s Mitsubishi Eclipse and Jesse’s Volkswagen Jetta.

The Maxima was built according to the movie’s specs—except for a few minor details—with the help of Craig Lieberman, a technical advisor for the early Fast and Furious movies, who owned the original.
All the exterior graphics are identical—using multiple layers of vinyl with airbrushed detailing—and so is the Stillen body kit. The side-exit tailpipe, Bomex mirrors and license plate are exact copies, as well.
Even elements not shown on screen, like the boost gauge buried in one of the cup holders, are included. A lot of attention and effort went into the custom sound system, obviously, while the reverse-hinged hood conceals the Maxima's supercharged 3.0-litre V6 which, according to Lieberman, boosted the original car's output to 260 horsepower.
Dubreuil says he relied on partners and components from all over the world. He now wants to tour Canada and the U.S. once COVID-19 restrictions are fully lifted.
His next project? A replica of Letty’s Nissan 240SX, which was the other option given to Dubreuil’s followers two years ago.
