There’s a 775-Horsepower Shelby F-150 if You Can’t Wait for the Raptor R

Published on July 9, 2021 in News by Guillaume Rivard

Fans of the Ford F-150 who are disappointed that the new Raptor is not more powerful than the old one are no doubt pinning their hopes on next year’s Raptor R, which could be motivated by the same supercharged 5.2-litre V8 as the Mustang Shelby GT500.

In the meantime, Shelby American has something to get them possibly even more excited. The company has just introduced its mightiest and most capable pickup ever: the 2021 Shelby F-150.

This off-road oriented muscle truck is based on the Lariat 4x4 model equipped with the 5.0-litre V8 engine. There’s a supercharger option almost doubling its output, from 395 to 775 horsepower (using 93-octane fuel), which is more than the Ram 1500 TRX and its 702 horsepower. The Venom 800 Supercharged designed by Hennessey, meanwhile, has 805 horsepower.

A performance air intake with high-flow filter, oversized carbon fibre air intake tube, performance aluminum heat exchanger, high-flow fuel injectors and other engine upgrades make it all possible. Let’s not forget the Borla performance exhaust system.

The raised suspension features FOX 2.5 shocks with internal bypass technology. It’s an adaptive system, so drivers can adjust ride height and suspension stiffness based on terrain conditions—from the track to the mountain.

Aesthetically, the Shelby F-150 stands out with gigantic 22-inch Shelby wheels on BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires, illuminated side steps with rock guards, flared fenders with side vents, a custom Shelby grille and bumpers, as well as the obligatory Le Mans-style racing stripes.

On the other side of the deep-tinted windows is a black leather interior with numerous red accents and a carbon fibre package. Billet racing pedals are included. Naturally, the Shelby name appears in various forms, and there’s a numbered plaque on the dashboard.

Why is that? Well, because production of the 2021 Shelby F-150 will be limited to 600 units, with some additional units exported outside the U.S. The four-door trucks have a starting MSRP of $107,080 USD, or approximately $133,800 CAD. Any takers?
