1,900-Horsepower Pininfarina Battista Makes Production Debut
Remember the Pininfarina Battista? This fully electric Italian hypercar originally appeared in pre-production form at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and was slated to hit the road in 2020, but as you can imagine the pandemic put those plans on hold.
Now, here it is officially as a production model, just ahead of its introduction during Monterey Car Week in California.

Special Edition, Unique Sound
Potential customers on hand will see it in person for the first time and be provided the opportunity to go for a ride. Also debuting in Monterey is a Battista Anniversario special edition with “aerodynamic enhancements and tailored detailing producing a uniquely dynamic personality.” That particular model will be limited to just five units worldwide.
The exposed carbon fibre body of the Pininfarina Battista houses four electric motors generating a combined 1,900 horsepower and 1,700 pound-feet of torque. Sprints from 0-100 km/h are reportedly achieved in less than two seconds. Meanwhile, the Rimac-developed battery provides a targeted range of 450 kilometres.
Here’s a cool detail we learned today: the sound of the Battista is crafted after Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi’s principles that any divisor of 432 Hz represents a “pure sound.” Pininfarina used 54 Hz as the core frequency, which then increases in multiples of 54 Hz as you accelerate to keep the in-cabin sound pure.
Next Stop: Canada
As announced two years ago, the Battista will be limited to a single production run of 150 units, all hand-built in Italy at Pininfarina’s Cambiano headquarters.
Pfaff Automotive Partners in Vaughan, Ontario has the exclusive distribution rights in Eastern Canada. Pricing is said to start at around $2.5 million.
