The Car Guide's Best Buys for 2022: Genesis GV70
Every year, The Car Guide unveils a list of Best Buys covering all the different vehicle categories in the industry.
Compact luxury SUVs are obviously very popular among Canadian drivers. They’re led by established German models, a dependable Japanese competitor and even one from South Korea.
The Winner
For 2022, we gave our Best Buy award to the Genesis GV70. Despite being an all-new product from a relatively young brand, the GV70 impresses with impeccable fit and finish, plus tremendous value.
Under the hood, customers can choose a four- or six-cylinder engine producing either 300 hp or 375 hp. Driving is fairly rewarding, although the focus is more on comfort than handling. On top of it all is Genesis’ excellent 5-year/100,000km warranty and great customer service.
Other Finalists
In second place, the Audi Q5 continues to stand out with attractive looks and sharp steering. We love its road manners, beautifully refined interior and sporty SQ5 variant.
Completing the podium this year is the Acura RDX, which boasts a great price, generous space and competent AWD system. Too bad there’s only one engine option and the infotainment system is not very user-friendly.
