Hennessey to Unleash Ford F-150 Raptor R With 1,000 Horsepower
As unbelievable as it may sound, the new and almighty Ford F-150 Raptor R managed to disappoint some fans when it debuted earlier this year. How could that happen with 700 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque under the hood? Well, the numbers don’t quite match those of the Ram 1500 TRX.
And yet, as we found out during a blast through the sand dunes of Michigan in October, no one will feel the difference behind the wheel.

More powerful iterations were bound to pop up eventually, and one of them has just been announced by a company that knows a thing or two about performance upgrades. Meet Hennessey’s VelociRaptoR 1000.
Working on the supercharged 5.2-litre Predator V8, the team down in Texas promises to deliver nearly 1,000 horsepower and more than 850 pound-feet of torque. The same engine is famous for cranking up 760 horsepower in the Mustang Shelby GT500, a car that Hennessey reliably upgrades to more than 1,200 horsepower.
They plan to replace the stock 2.65-litre supercharger with a larger 3.8-litre blower and fit it with a new belt while also adding a high-flow induction system, larger fuel injectors and upgraded fuel lines.
New front and rear VelociRaptor bumpers, a front LED light bar, 20-inch Hennessey wheels and 37-inch off-road tires will bring added road presence and boost the truck’s go-anywhere capability. VelociRaptoR 1000 graphics and badges plus a serial-numbered build plaque will further set the model apart.
The company is not saying much about the chassis and suspension, but we know what it’s capable of after seeing thousands of VelociRaptors delivered to customers all over the globe.
Pricing has yet to be determined, mind you. If you have to ask, you probably can’t afford it. For the record, the F-150 Raptor R starts at around $145,000 in Canada including freight and PDI.
