2024 Nissan Sentra Gets Styling Tweaks, More Efficient CVT

The Nissan Sentra is one of the cheapest and greenest cars in Canada. We’re not sure about pricing yet, but it promises to be even more fuel-efficient for 2024.

The Japanese compact sedan sports a redesigned front fascia with yet another interpretation of Nissan’s V-motion grille. The lower fascia has a cleaner appearance with vent-like elements moved to the outer edges of the car, while the updated headlights feature black interior bezel elements. A new available 16-inch alloy design is featured on the mid-range SV model.

The sportier, top-line Sentra SR (pictured here) gets new dark chrome trim for the grille, dark chrome outer finish elements on the front fascia and a body-coloured lower trim strip below the grille. Red “SR” badges are also added in the front and rear.

Designers have tweaked the rear end to make the car look lower and wider. Inside, the accent stitching colour has been updated to a red-orange that more closely matches with what is seen in the Altima SR, Frontier PRO-X and Frontier PRO-4X.

Revised CVT

The 2024 Nissan Sentra retains its 2.0-litre inline-four engine producing 149 horsepower and 146 lb-ft, of torque. However, the Xtronic CVT it’s mated to has been revised in order to reduce fuel consumption while providing smoother operation. Also new is standard Idle Stop Start, which can shut off the engine when the vehicle is stopped.

Fuel consumption ratings are unavailable at the moment, but you should know the outgoing Sentra burned as little as 6 L/100 km of gas on the highway and 8 L/100 km in the city. The six-speed manual gearbox, which increases average consumption by 0.8 L/100 km, can still be ordered with the S and SR models.

When it comes to safety, all Sentras are equipped with a suite of six advanced driver-assist systems including Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist and Rear Automatic Braking.

The 2024 Nissan Sentra goes on sale in late summer. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
