Is This the New 2025 Toyota Camry Lurking on the Horizon?

Toyota is having more and more fun with teasers, it seems. The latest came earlier this week with partial shots of two concepts that will debut on October 24 at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo, including the FT-Se sports car.

Now, here’s another using the tagline “A New Dawn is Coming.” There is no more information than that. The company simply wants us to “guess what’s on the horizon.”

The shadowy picture reveals a low silhouette typical of a car, so we can pretty much forget about an SUV or crossover. On the other hand, it doesn’t look anything like a sporty car such as the GR Supra or GR 86.

If we keep going by elimination, the LED lighting signature is different from that of the Corolla, Prius and Crown, which are fairly new. That would leave the Camry which, as you know, is due for a replacement. The current generation dates back to 2018 with no changes in store for 2024.

A fully redesigned and improved Toyota Camry is expected to debut as a 2025 model. Since the midsize sedan has been discontinued in Japan, it could very well celebrate its world premiere next month at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show (November 17-26).

This is an event where green mobility and technologies are front and centre, and don’t be surprised if the next-gen Camry becomes exclusively hybrid, following the lead of other Toyota nameplates including the Sienna, Venza and Sequoia, plus the aforementioned Crown and Prius.

The writing is on the wall for the 3.5-litre V6, that much we know, and Toyota will likely replace it with a turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine, whether electrified or not. Count on Toyota to provide additional clues in the coming weeks. And if it’s somehow a completely different vehicle than the Camry, you’ll be among the first to know thanks to us.
