2025 BMW 4 Series is Refreshed and Mildly Electrified
The BMW 4 Series Coupe and Cabriolet get another round of updates for the 2025 model year. The changes aren’t major but cover many aspects of the car.
On the outside, the headlights, grille, 19-inch wheels and taillights all sport a fresh look. The last ones are particularly striking with their new laser-lit accents. New body colours are available, too, including the superb Vegas Red pictured here.

Drivers will find a redesigned sport steering wheel with illuminated buttons and paddle shifters as standard or with the optional M Sport package.
Other highlights include new adjustment controls for the air vent grilles, updated ambient lighting, as well as the ability to adjust temperature, fan speed, seat heating and ventilation and steering wheel heating via the touchscreen or by voice command with the help of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. BMW’s navigation system provides additional information while driving including a new Augmented View function.
Under the hood, the main change is the addition of a 48V starter-generator easing the burden on the engine, whether it’s the turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder (now using a Miller cycle) or the turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder. The former continues to deliver 255 horsepower but at slightly lower revs, along with 295 lb-ft of torque which you can access a bit later in the rev range. The bigger engine gets a boost from 382 horsepower to 386 horsepower, 11 of which come from the electric assist, while peak torque increases from 369 lb-ft to 398 lb-ft.
Fuel consumption ratings for Canada are not available at this time, however.
Production of the 2025 BMW 4 Series will begin in March. The base 430i xDrive Coupe starts at $58,700, while the Cabriolet is priced from $69,500. In M440i xDrive trim, MSRPs are $72,300 and $83,000, respectively.
Don’t Forget the M4!
What about the M4 Coupe and M4 Cabriolet? Naturally, they get some revisions of their own. The optional M forged alloy wheels have a new design, for instance. Oh, and don’t bother with the black hood graphics you see on the Euro-spec model: they won’t be offered in Canada.
The interior benefits from the same updates described above, but with a unique M Sport steering wheel and exclusive trim accents you won’t find anywhere else.
As for performance, the M4 Coupe continues to deliver 473 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque through a lovely six-speed manual gearbox. At the top of the lineup, the M4 Competition Coupe and Cabriolet with M xDrive now produce 523 horsepower instead of 503 horsepower, which is transferred to the road via BMW’s eight-speed automatic transmission and xDrive all-wheel drive system. Peak torque remains the same (479 lb-ft). The cars can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds or 3.7 seconds depending on the body style.
Similar to the rest of the 4 Series, the 2025 BMW M4 Coupe and M4 Cabriolet will enter production in March. Expect to pay at least $94,300 for the fixed-top model or $101,200 in Competition M xDrive trim. The M4 Cabriolet Competition M xDrive starts at $110,200.
