2024 Ford E-Transit Adds Range, Still Lags Behind Rivals
The current-generation Ford Transit has been around for a decade now, with the fully electric E-Transit launching three years ago. However, the latter is facing tough new competitors including the Ram ProMaster EV and Mercedes-Benz eSprinter, so Ford needs to do something about that.
For 2024, a larger 89kWh battery (usable capacity) increases range from 203 km up to 254 km in low-roof cargo configuration—just 7 km shy of the ProMaster EV, but still far from matching the eSprinter’s 370 km of range, not to mention the GM-built BrightDrop Zevo 600’s 400 km of range.

According to data collected from its telematics systems, Ford claims the average daily range for commercial vans in North America is under 120 km.
New dual onboard chargers are another key upgrade, enabling the E-Transit to charge faster than before. With a maximum DC charging rate of 176 kW, 15 minutes are enough to add up to 107 km of range—an improvement of 49 percent.
As we reported last week, Ford customers can now order an adapter to gain access to Tesla’s Superchargers in Canada and the U.S.
What’s more, the 2024 Ford E-Transit will charge from 0-100 percent in just six hours and 11 minutes when using the now-available Ford Pro Series 2 80A charging station—22 percent faster than the previous battery.
Performance is unchanged, in case you’re wondering. The E-Transit with enhanced range maintains the same 266 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque as the prior model.
Order banks for the 2024 Ford E-Transit will open this spring, with deliveries expected to start later this year. Canadian pricing is set at $73,690. Some EV incentives apply, both at the federal and provincial levels. Click on the links for more details.
