Jeep Wagoneer S Takes On Tesla Model Y in Pre-Debut Teaser

The all-new Jeep Wagoneer S, the brand’s first all-electric SUV in North America, will make its debut on May 30 in New York City and The Car Guide will have plenty of details, specs and pictures to share with you at that time.

Of course, we already know a few things about this vehicle. Jeep unveiled a concept back in 2022 and posted a first official teaser of the production model at the beginning of this year. Also, a couple of shots leaked online some time after that and we made sure to show them to you.

Today, the company released a nearly two-minute-long video titled “Surpass Yourself” that aims to illustrate what the Wagoneer S is capable of by pitting a pre-production model against a Tesla Model Y Performance.

As you can see, the 600 horsepower and 617 lb-ft of torque send the Wagoneer S from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 3.4 seconds, which is a tenth of a second quicker than the pride of Elon Musk as well as the discontinued, Hellcat-powered Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (707 horsepower, 645 lb-ft). The latter was up until now the fastest-accelerating production model in the entire history of Jeep.

The Wagoneer S will also offer several drive modes and off-road capability that trumps most other electric SUVs on the market. As for range, Jeep is promising over 300 miles (483 km), which again would prove very competitive.

Production is expected to begin this summer. The Jeep Wagoneer S will go on sale first in the U.S. and Canada this fall, more specifically in Quebec and B.C. Other Canadian provinces and markets will follow.

As we reported in mid-April, the head of Jeep in North America, Antonio Filosa, is leaving the door open to an ICE-powered variant, even though there is already a gas-burning Wagoneer in the lineup. Stellantis’ STLA Large platform would allow it. Considering uncertain EV demand especially in the U.S., this might be a wise move.
