In 2016, the Japanese automaker celebrated the Corolla’s 50th anniversary, which is the most popular model of all time in the world.

As a matter of fact, in 1997, the Corolla surpassed the legendary Volkswagen Beetle on all-time sales charts, although the little Toyota was redesigned quite a few times while the original Bug remained largely unchanged for more than 60 years.

Nevertheless, the Toyota Corolla soldiers on by receiving a major redesign for the 2019 model year in the case of the hatchback variant, and for 2020 in the case of the sedan. Here, in pictures, are the twelve generations of the car introduced in 1966—and 1967 in Canada.
