Q80 Inspiration Concept: Infiniti's Next Flagship

Published on September 22, 2014 in Paris by Frédérick Boucher-Gaulin

Ever since the Q45 was phased out, Infiniti has been without a prestigious luxury sedan. The most expensive vehicle in their lineup, the Q70, is not equipped to fight against Germany’s finest, like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7-Series. However, Infiniti is set to unveil something that may change this situation at the Paris Auto Show.

The manufacturer teased a single, very dark picture of their upcoming concept. While we couldn’t see much, the aggressive, almost fastback roofline is visible.

Since this morning, we now know more about this sleek car. Powered by a twin-turbo 3L engine and an electric motor, it boasts a combined power of 550 horsepower. Infiniti talks about a 5.5L/100 km efficiency, and we can’t wait to see if they are right…

In the press release, Infiniti points out that this concept will spawn a new flagship vehicle. A 2+2 coupe (or a four-door coupe) is probable, but we can also expect a sedan shortly after.

The official unveiling happened on October 2nd, at Paris’ Parc des Expositions de Versailles.
