Ferrari’s First All-electric Car to Launch in 2025

Ferrari plans to launch its first all-electric sports car in 2025, which is earlier than the initial target set in the second half of this decade.

During the automaker’s annual general meeting, chairman John Elkann promised a vehicle that will “bring the uniqueness and passion of Ferrari to new generations."

He then added: “You can be sure this will be everything you dream the engineers and designers at Maranello can imagine for such a landmark in our history.”

Ferrari currently offers the SF90 Stradale, a plug-in hybrid supercar with a total output of 986 horsepower and zero-emission range of about 25 kilometres. Other plug-in hybrids will follow as part of a larger electrification push. And don’t forget Ferrari’s return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2023.

Of course, it’s way too soon to talk about the technical aspects of Ferrari’s first pure EV, including power and range. However, leaked patents from last year suggest the company is working on a four-wheel-drive model featuring an electric motor on each wheel.

Ferrari has previously said it will not rush into the EV game, preferring to wait for battery and electric motor technology to keep developing until it can "produce a car that fits with our position.”

At the annual general meeting, Elkann also said Ferrari will debut three new models in the coming months, without being more specific. One of them is likely to be the Purosangue (Italian for thoroughbred), the brand’s first-ever SUV.
