Holy Snakes: Shelby-powered Bronco May be Coming
Two of Ford’s biggest stars are complete opposites. On one hand, you have the rugged Bronco off-roader. On the other hand, there’s the 760-horsepower Mustang Shelby GT500 muscle car.
What are the chances these two join forces and spawn a wickedly fast, go-anywhere SUV at some point in the future? Don’t laugh, but it could happen, especially after seeing the following video posted on YouTube by Bronco Nation.

Shelby American CEO Gary Patterson takes on renowned off-road racer Shelby Hall on a race track, with the former driving a Shelby GT500 and the latter behind the wheel of a Bronco. More interesting than their battle, perhaps, are the comments made at the very end:
Patterson is suggesting that Shelby should start working on the Bronco using the GT500’s powertrain, and naturally Hall responds by saying it’s a great idea.
Ford resurrected the legendary Bronco with a pair of turbocharged engines producing up to 330 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, and we know there’s a more powerful version in the works, too. Should that one follow in the footsteps of the F-150 Raptor, that would mean around 450 horsepower and 510 pound-feet. But remember that an almighty F-150 Raptor R is also coming for 2022, possibly with 700+ ponies under the hood.
Can you imagine a Bronco with that much firepower? Oh, that’s right: Texas-based tuner Hennessey is cooking up something of its own. Prepare for a VelociRaptor V8 Bronco featuring a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine with 750 horsepower. The insanity!
