Mazda CX-3 Axed in Canada After 2022
Already dead in the U.S., the Mazda CX-3 will be axed in Canada as well for 2023. Incidentally, there will not be a second generation.
The news was confirmed to The Car Guide by a Mazda Canada representative during a media event for the brand new CX-50.

The Japanese automaker’s smallest crossover was originally launched for 2016 and has enjoyed plenty of success on this side of the border. However, it’s now largely overshadowed by the larger and sexier CX-30. While sales of the former dropped 4.5 percent to 5,314 units in 2021 (after the 2020 plunge caused by the pandemic), the latter jumped 26.5 percent to 11,407 units.
So far in 2022, more Canadians have turned to the CX-3 due to its cheap price (you know, with inflation being at its highest since August 1991), but mounting evidence suggests this model no longer fits Mazda’s brand strategy, which is to offer more premium and refined vehicles.
If you want a Mazda hatchback with a reasonable price and available all-wheel drive, you will have to opt for a Mazda3 Sport or the aforementioned CX-30 after 2022.
The CX-3 will join the Ford EcoSport, which will leave the market later this year, as well as the Chevrolet Trax and Buick Encore, which are reportedly getting canned for 2023.
