2023 Dodge Challenger Shakedown is the First of Seven “Last Call” Special Editions

As we reported last week, the Dodge Charger and Challenger will cease to exist in their current form after the 2023 model year, but not before the company releases seven “Last Call” special-edition models. Today we can tell you about the first one.

Inspired by the original Dodge Shakedown Challenger concept which debuted at SEMA back in 2016 (featured in the photo gallery above), the new 2023 Dodge Challenger Shakedown follows the same theme of a black-and-red interior and exterior.

Only 1,000 units will be available including 500 Shakedown R/T Scat Pack models in Destroyer Grey and 500 Shakedown R/T Scat Pack Widebody models in Pitch Black. A Dodge spokesman refused to tell us how many of those will be allocated to the Canadian market.

This special edition is based on the popular Challenger Scat Pack 392, so it houses the 6.4-litre HEMI V8 producing 485 horsepower. Also included is a ton of content from the Plus Group, Technology Group, Navigation, Carbon/Suede Interior Package and Dynamics Package.

On the outside, the 2023 Dodge Challenger Shakedown stands out with the cold-air-grabbing Mopar Shaker hood and Mopar Shaker intake, a “Shaker” underhood decal, unique grille badges, red “392” fender graphics, a “Shakedown” spoiler graphic and Shakedown stripes with red accent running down the middle of the car. Behind the 20-inch black wheels (those on the Widebody models are 11 inches wide) are six-piston Brembo brake callipers painted in red.

Premium Black Nappa/Alcantara seats with red stitching highlight the interior, but don’t miss the Demonic Red seatbelts or the “Shakedown” badge on the dashboard. Red stitching can also be found on the dashboard, steering wheel and centre console.

As you can see from the above, no technical modifications or performance-enhancing upgrades were made to the car. This is pretty much just for show. Pricing information will be available on Dodge.ca when vehicle ordering opens later this fall.

By the way, five more special editions of the Challenger and Charger will be announced between now and September 21. The seventh and final 2023 Dodge model—the very last of its kind—will be revealed at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, scheduled for November 1-4, 2022.
