Mitsubishi's Offering to Vision Gran Turismo
The latest manufacturer to join the Vision Gran Turismo program, where designers have a chance to design a vehicle that represents the future of their respective brands, is Mitsubishi who quietly unveiled the XR-PHEV Evolution Vision Gran Turismo.
Based on the XR-PHEV Concept shown at the 2013 Tokyo Auto Show, this Evolution Concept is designed towards maximum performance, since it was created by the motorsport division of Mitsubishi.
The XR-PHEV Evolution Vision Gran Turismo is an electric car, but where its most-closely related sibling, the i-Miev, is a practical small commuter, the XR-PHEV was made to dominate racetracks. An AWD system sends the power to the wheels through an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The body is made of Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Plastics (CFRP) to keep the weight down. Huge 20 inch wheels keep the car on the ground while also giving the car street cred.
This car is (digital) living proof that when you leave Mitsubishi's designers alone to create something interesting, they can dream up an absolutely stunning vehicle!
