Aston Martin Offers the DP-1000 in Gran Turismo

Aston Martin just unveiled the car they will offer to the Vision Gran Turismo program. In recent years, people may have criticized the style of modern Aston Martin cars, saying they all looked alike. Those critics have been silenced with the DP-1000.

The DP-1000 (Design Prototype 1000, in case you were wondering) is a true supercar with a mid-engine layout. Said engine is a 12-cylinder, in the purest Aston Martin tradition, however it has been fitted with two turbochargers. This powerplant is good for around 800 HP, and the car is kept as close to the asphalt as possible thanks to multiple active aerodynamic parts and huge 20 inch wheels shod in Michelin tires.

Aston Martin’s Director of Design, Marek Reichman, mentions that even if the DP-1000 will obviously never become a production model, a lot of its stylistic elements, like the tail lights, will be implemented in the brand's road-going models in the coming years.

As a reminder, the Vision Gran Turismo program was created by Sony, and offers automotive designers a chance to create a car that represents the future of their respective brands. These vehicles will then be drivable in the Gran Turismo video game, available on PlayStation 3.

The DP-1000 will be available for download in Gran Turismo next month.
