2022 Porsche 911 GTS Gets 473 Hp, Lightweight Package
New GTS models are finally joining the other members of the eighth-generation (992) Porsche 911, offering more power and style than before.
They come in Coupe and Cabriolet variants with either RWD or AWD, as well as a Targa configuration (AWD only).

Let’s start with the turbocharged 3.0-litre flat-six engine, which delivers 473 horsepower—an increase of 23 horsepower from the current 911 Carrera S and the previous 911 GTS. Maximum torque is 420 pound-feet (+15), resulting in 0-100 km/h sprints in just 3.4 seconds with the eight-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission—three tenths quicker than its predecessor. A seven-speed manual transmission with a particularly short throw is available, too.
Next, the suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is derived from the 911 Turbo and anchors a chassis that’s 10 millimetres lower. The 911 Targa 4 S chassis with PASM is used for the 911 Targa 4 GTS.
The high-performance braking system also comes from the 911 Turbo. Same thing for the 20-inch front and 21-inch rear black alloy wheels. Of course, a sports exhaust system is included, and for the first time on a GTS a Lightweight Design package is available, saving up to 25 kilograms thanks to carbon fibre-reinforced plastic full bucket seats, lightweight glass for the side and rear windows, deleted rear seats and more.
Aesthetically, a number of black or darkened exterior details continue to set the 911 GTS apart, including the Targa hoop and lettering. The taillights are unique to the GTS models and the Sport Design package is fitted as standard.
Black is also the dominant colour of the interior, with many surfaces wrapped in Race-Tex microfibre. Look for Sport Seats Plus, GT Sport steering wheel, Sport Chrono package, Porsche Track Precision app and tire temperature display. Porsche says the shifter of the optional seven-speed manual transmission has been shortened by 10 millimetres to enable fast gearshifts with a flick of the wrist. Meanwhile, less interior insulation means a closer auditory connection with the engine.
Finally, infotainment is enhanced courtesy of the new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system version 6.0. The menus are more user-friendly, Android Auto is now compatible, and the improved voice assistant recognises natural speech and can be activated with "Hey Porsche."
All five model variants of the 2022 Porsche 911 GTS are now available to order in Canada at prices starting from $150,700.
