Jeep Wrangler Xtreme Recon Pushes Off-road Envelope Even Further
Ahead of its official debut at the 2021 Chicago Auto Show on July 14, Jeep has announced a new package that once again elevates the Wrangler's legendary off-road capabilities.
It’s called Xtreme Recon and it marks the first time a Wrangler comes out of the factory riding on 35-inch tires.

“We have been listening to and watching our customers make this one of the most popular modifications to their Wranglers, and now we will deliver this exciting new package, along with an industry-first 100:1 crawl ratio, off the showroom floor at our Jeep dealerships,” said Jim Morrison, Vice President of Jeep for North America.
The tires are BF Goodrich KO2 All-Terrain units (LT315/70R17C). The Jeep Wrangler Xtreme Recon also features 17x8-inch beadlock-capable wheels, a 1.5-inch factory suspension lift with uniquely tuned shocks plus a 4.56:1 axle ratio.
As a result, the vehicle boasts an approach angle of 47.4 degrees, breakover angle of 26.7 degrees, departure angle of 40.4 degrees, ground clearance of 12.9 inches and water fording height of 33.6 inches—all best in the segment, Jeep points out.
Set to enter production in August, the Xtreme Recon package can be ordered now at $4,995, but only with the four-door Wrangler Unlimited in Rubicon trim.
Speaking of which, the Wrangler Rubicon will add the option of a new 4.88:1 axle ratio later in 2021. When paired with the six-speed manual transmission, this optional axle ratio delivers a best-in-class 100:1 crawl ratio for increased wheel torque and control when navigating off-road obstacles.
