Mazda Announces Pricing for MX-30 Electric Crossover
The all-new 2022 Mazda MX-30 electric crossover will go on sale at select Mazda dealers in Quebec and British Columbia this fall, and we finally know how much it will cost.
The lineup includes two trim levels and both of them qualify for a $5,000 rebate from the Canadian government in addition to incentives of $8,000 in Quebec and $3,000 in B.C.

Generously Equipped
Starting at $42,150 (plus $1,950 destination and delivery), the base MX-30 GS is available in Arctic White, Machine Grey Metallic, Polymetal Grey Metallic or Jet Black Mica as single-tone exterior paint options. It sports 18-inch alloy wheels in a silver finish, full LED lighting and a gloss black front grille.
Inside, standard content includes an 8.8-inch centre display featuring the latest Mazda Connect system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, eight-speaker Mazda Harmonic Acoustics stereo, seven-inch digital instrument panel, head-up display, navigation with traffic sign recognition as well as heated front seats and steering wheel. There’s also a long list of advanced safety features including adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
Meanwhile, the MX-30 GT is priced from $47,150 and available in other body colours such as Ceramic Metallic and Mazda’s signature Soul Red Crystal Metallic. The 18-inch alloy wheels are finished with a bright silver colour, while the leatherette seats come in either Pure White with grey fabric or Vintage Brown with black fabric (both options feature fabric using 20 percent recycled threads).
This upscale model adds a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system, power sunroof, 360-degree camera system, power driver’s seat with memory and convenient lighting in the cargo area. Safety is further covered by blind spot assist (which actively prevents lane changes when another vehicle is detected in the blind spot) and front cross traffic alert.
Making the Most of That Short Range
The 2022 Mazda MX-30 is primarily designed for urban commutes with a 35.5-kWh lithium-ion battery that provides an estimated range of just 161 kilometres (the official rating from Natural Resources Canada will be announced later). That’s not going to cut it against the next generation of electric vehicles arriving on the market.
As a consolation, Mazda has partnered with ChargePoint to give MX-30 customers a $500 charging credit that can be used for public charging or toward the purchase of a domestic ChargePoint Level 2 charger. With the latter, the battery can be charged from 20-80 percent within approximately two hours and 50 minutes. Using a Level 3 DC fast charger (50 kW), the same process takes 36 minutes. On the other hand, prepare to wait 13 hours and 40 minutes if you plug the vehicle into a standard power outlet.
Although FWD only, the MX-30 promises spirited driving and more fun overall than just about any competitor. The electric motor delivers an output of 107 kilowatts (143 horsepower) and a maximum torque of 200 pound-feet. Furthermore, new electric G-Vectoring Control Plus (e-GVC Plus) uses electric motor torque adjustments to control vehicle load and help provide more natural handling, Mazda explains.
