Ferrari Purosangue Officially Teased as Countdown Continues

Published on March 23, 2022 in New Models by Guillaume Rivard

Following a couple of pictures that were taken at the Maranello plant and leaked on Instagram in February, revealing the nose and tail of what appeared to be a pre-production model, Ferrari today decided to post the first official image of its all-new Purosangue SUV.

As previously reported, the Italian automaker doesn’t want to call it an SUV—more like an FUV, or Ferrari Utility Vehicle—claiming it’s a different breed of sports cars aimed at drivers who want more space and versatility, not unlike the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo.

This new teaser confirms that the leaked photos were not lying. While the Purosangue will be taller and have more ground clearance than any other Ferrari model, it still features a low, sloping front end with massive intakes. The hood and headlights are unique, although some could see similarities with the SF90 Stradale.

While Ferrari is not showing the sides or rear end for now, the leak revealed black cladding on the wheel arches, a dynamic character line connecting with the trunk, distinctive taillights and a contrasting lower rear bumper with a large diffuser and quad tailpipes.

As for the engine, seemingly all possible options have been discussed to this point, from the new 296 GTB’s V6 hybrid powertrain to the naturally aspirated V12 in the 812. One thing’s for sure, though: power will be distributed to all four wheels, likely using a new, model-specific AWD system.

The future Lamborghini Urus and Aston Martin DBX 707 rival is scheduled to make its world debut and enter production later this year ahead of vehicle deliveries starting in 2023. Keep following The Car Guide for all the latest on the Ferrari Purosangue.
