All-new Chevrolet Corvette, Trailblazer Make Canadian Debut in Montreal

Chevrolet is all about performance and SUVs in 2020. The all-new Corvette Stingray making its Canadian debut at the Montreal Auto Show today will certainly not go unnoticed.

For the first time since the introduction of the Corvette in 1953, the engine sits behind the cockpit instead of under the hood. This new architecture gives the car better weight distribution allowing unprecedented levels of handling.

The 495-horsepower V8 delivers impressive acceleration and sounds exceptional in the process. It’s a shame, however, that Chevrolet abandoned the manual transmission. The only option is an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Another SUV Joins the Lineup

Chevrolet already had six SUVs in its lineup including the Trax, Equinox, Blazer, Traverse, Tahoe and Suburban. Now, here comes a seventh: the 2021 Trailblazer.

Also presented in a Canadian premiere, this model slots between the Trax and Equinox in terms of size, while styling is inspired by the sporty Blazer.

Similar to the new Buick Encore GX, which is built on the same platform, the Trailblazer takes passenger safety pretty seriously. All LT, ACTIV and RS models in Canada will have standard Rear Park Assist, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Many additional driver assistance systems are part of the package, as well, including Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control.

As for powertrains, look for a choice of two new turbocharged three-cylinder engines. The base 1.2-litre unit is rated at 137 horsepower and 166 pound-feet of torque, while the optional 1.3-litre mill generates 155 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. Both are paired with a CVT in front-wheel drive applications, while the 1.3L-AWD combo will rely on GM’s nine-speed autobox.

The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer is expected to arrive in showrooms around spring, with specific trim and option pricing details to be announced closer to launch.
