2021 Ford Bronco Official Specs Reveal Higher Power, Torque Figures

There’s a silver lining for all those customers eagerly waiting to take delivery of their new 2021 Ford Bronco: while the assembly plant in Wayne, Michigan is down for two weeks due to the chip shortage, we’ve learned the highly anticipated SUV is more powerful than initially advertised.

This is true for both engines including the turbocharged 2.3-litre four-cylinder and the twin-turbocharged 2.7-litre V6.

When the Bronco was first unveiled last summer, Ford said the former generated 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. However, the full specs posted by the automaker show ratings of 275 horsepower and 315 pound-feet with regular fuel. And if you fill the tank with premium fuel, these numbers increase to 300 and 325, respectively.

As for the V6, which was initially announced with 310 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque, the actual output is now 315 horsepower and 410 pound-feet. With premium gas, you’ll get 330 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque.

There are two transmissions available including a seven-speed manual and a 10-speed automatic. Unfortunately, the clutch-and-stick combo can’t be had with the larger engine. On the plus side, after a petition was launched by fans, Ford decided to offer it with the Sasquatch Package, which adds a more capable 4WD system and 35-inch tires among other things.

The 2021 Ford Bronco comes in six trim levels (base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outerbanks, Badlands, Wildtrack) and starts at $40,499 in Canada.

In late March, Ford revealed that more than 125,000 of the 190,000 reservations it has received from prospective customers in the U.S. and Canada have been turned into official orders.

At the moment, the first deliveries are scheduled for June.
